The holidays is all about the desserts, drinks included. I don’t shy away from all the yummy goodness this time of year because a) how can you and b) I also have zero self control, lol.
My first “Christmas-y” drink was on November 12th and wasn’t mad at it. I had a decedent hot chocolate and it was delicious and definitely got me ready to dive into the Christmas yummies. Today’s blog post is about those delicious treats we love to have this time of year. The one I made was super easy and qualifies more as a dessert. I also made a cute little DIY drink for two littles in my family which was again, super easy and super cute.
Let’s Get Started
First up is a cute little DIY for any kiddos (or adults too, really) that would love a good cup of hot chocolate. I made these two ornaments in no time and was able to use everything I already had in the house. I love how they turned out and I think the kids will be super happy about them.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
-An empty plastic ornament to fill. I got these ones from the Dollar store
-Your hot chocolate mix. I’m a fan of using Nes Quick powder for my hot chocolates so I used that
-Any festive sprinkles you’d like to add in. I had Christmas trees and snowmen, along with red sprinkles so they were perfect
-Marshmallows because you can’t have a hot chocolate without them
How To Put It All Together
Step 1: Wash your bulbs beforehand because it’s 2020
Step 2: Once they’ve dried, pour in the hot chocolate powder. I poured about half way up the ball because I wanted to fill it but also leave room for the mallows.
Step 3: Add in your sprinkles or anything else you’d like
Step 4: Toss the mallows in and you’re done! Place the cap back on and to-da!
Again, super easy, super cute, and I think the kiddos will get a kick out of having their drink contents in a bulb!
Next, for the adults who like a little kick to their dessert, there’s a Bailey’s Affogato. It’s a nice little treat while you’re curled up watching a Christmas movie, or after a big dinner when you want something sweet but not too heavy. Give this a try and let me know what you think!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
-Vanilla ice cream
–Bailey’s – I went for the original but you can spruce it up with getting a flavoured one
-A bar of milk chocolate
How To Make Your Affogato:
Step 1: Scoop 2-3 spoons of vanilla ice cream into your cup
Step 2: Pour the Bailey’s over top the ice cream so it just begins to touch the ice cream. I poured too much Bailey’s in ours and found it overbearing so a little less would have been perfect
Step 3: Take your milk chocolate bar and grate some flakes on top
And that’s it! You’ll want to serve/eat this right away because of the ice cream but it was absolutely delicious!
Do you have a go-to holiday drink or dessert this time of year? What’s your favourite?
