Winter equals dry skin, lets face it.
There’s no denying that your skin becomes rough, patchy, and tight from the cold, dry winter months. I for one, can’t stand that. I hate looking down at my legs and seeing them all chappy because of how dry the air is. How do you combat the never ending dry skin? Hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate some more.
It’s easy to fall off your skincare routine when there’s so many flipping steps and products to use, but really giving yourself the time to do your routine truly helps combat the dry, itchy skin. I have made my routine so habitual that it doesn’t phase me (or Shaun) anymore if I’m in the bathroom for 45 minutes post shower or bath.
My Baked Potato Routine
Healthy skin needs and takes time and attention. You can’t lather yourself in cream once and expect it to last – it unfortunately doesn’t work that way. Which is why I created my sugar scrub for my Etsy shop, Bath Buddies. I have dry skin all year around so you can only imagine what it gets like during the winter. This scrub is made with sugar and organic coconut oil that exfoliates and moisturizes. The sugar helps remove the dead skin build up while the oil helps to lock in the moisture.
For the nights we’re cuddled in for the evening, I double up the routine. I use my scrub and then lather on a layer of cream. The Shea Body Butter from The Body Shop is amazing. I come out of the bathroom like a creamy baked potato – cooking time, overnight.
I found that for the in between baked potato nights, my sugar scrub helps maintain my hydrated skin. With the scrub being used in the shower, you’re able to moisturize your skin while you’re in there instead of creaming up afterwards after every single shower. Like I mentioned, every now and then I double up and put cream on top, but to save that routine for every few weeks, I reach for my scrub every shower to keep me moisturized until then.
Give yourself some extra attention and self care days, you (and your hydrated skin) won’t regret it.
These sugar scrubs can be purchased through my Etsy shop, here.
What’s your baked potato skincare routine like?
