My oh my does the winter bring out some dry skin for me. It hasn’t been quite that cold just yet though but I can already feel a difference in my skin since the temperatures have dropped. Skincare is something I’ve taken more seriously in the past few years and I’ve really enjoyed making it part of my night time routine (although since having a baby it hasn’t been as consistent as I’d like it to be). But before baby, I was doing it religiously and this post is all about my favourites and what I’ve been using lately to keep my skin hydrated for the winter.
Pin for Later:
Affordable Hydration
Before I began this skincare obsession of mine, I didn’t try very many new products. I stuck to what I knew worked for me and that was pretty much it. But in doing some research and seeing what others have shared online, I got introduced to The Ordinary. Which, if you haven’t added their products to your lineup, here’s your sign to do so. The Ordinary has amazing products for a fraction of the price compared to others on the market. I cannot recommend them enough.
The first product I ever used was “the buffet” and it was amazing. The other one I then tried was Hyaluronic Acid 2% and I absolutely love that one and for a 2oz bottle at $14.70, literally add to cart. The prices are incredibly affordable and definitely work, too.
The Natural Moisturizing Factors face cream is a two thumbs up in my books. Non greasy, easily spreadable, and $11.50 for a 3oz tube. Again, if you saw my other beauty posts you’d know I was a fresh, Deep Hydration Face Cream die hard and wouldn’t try anything new. However, the price just pretty for a smaller sized jar and so I tried the Natural Moisturizing cream and it was amazing. Left my face feeling super hydrated after each use. Highly recommend for an affordable face cream.
Hydration Punch
One product that I actually use year-round is my Origins Drink Up Intensive mask. If you’ve seen my Spring Skincare post, you would recognize this one because she is an absolute fave of mine for years now. It’s an overnight mask that is so thick and hydrating that when I wash it off in the morning my face feels so plump and hydrated. A little also goes a long way with this one too. I don’t really use a lot so it lasts for quite a bit of time.
We can’t forget about under the eyes! Eye creams are fairly new to me but I got this little guy, it cosmetics, Bye Bye Undereye and I’m shooked and hooked all at the same time. You don’t need very much and I’m astounded at how well it works. My under eyes always look brighter and more alive in the mornings after use. Highly recommend this one! It’s not currently available at Sephora but if you see it elsewhere, snag it.
Cleansing While Hydrating
I picked up the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask on a whim and can say that it’s become a fave. It feels like it truly gets the gunk out of my face but doesn’t leave my skin feeling leather-like after removal. Who doesn’t love a good skin detox, but also one that doesn’t break the skin. Definitely happy I purchased this one and it’ll be a repurchase once I’m done this one for sure.
The Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 is one of my absolute, no doubt about it, favourite products ever. It’s a toner that doesn’t strip away the oils of my skin but manages to remove all the dirt and grim from the day. Seriously, I can wash my face twice and go in with my cotton pad afterwards and STILL remove dirt. It’s unreal and I will never be caught without this guy. I buy the purple one that is for dry combination skin so I know it’s not going to make my face hurt after use. If there’s one product you try from this entire post, let it be this one. Also, small tin-bit – if I’m super lazy at night and don’t feel like doing my whole skincare routine, I double cleanse with this guy and I’m good to be. Never disappoints.
Hydration Staples
So that’s my winter skincare round up of my absolute staples! These products have gotten me through some cold winter months and I haven’t been disappointed. Have you ever used any of these before?
